Meet at End of the Line Store, top of Lynn Valley Road

This Friday, Nov.4 we’ll be meeting at the End Of The Line Store at the top of Lynn Valley Road (at Dempsey). Remember if you’re coming via Lynn Valley Road, there’s road construction between Highway 1 and Frederick, may cause delays. An alternate route might be Lonsdale/29th/Lynn Valley Road, or the Braemar/Dempsey connector.

There’s plenty of parking in Kilmer Park, a half block west of our meeting spot on Dempsey.

We’ll head for the Lynn Loop via the Varley and Headwaters Trails.
This is a moderate hike with some steep sections, bring your poles!
We’ll meet at 9:15 for a head count, then start hiking at 9:30.

This hike might take slightly over two hours. See you Friday!

Follow Chartwell to the top…where it meets Eyremount and Millstream

This Friday’s hike is in the Brothers’Creek/Lawson Creek area. We’re meeting at the trailhead at the top of Chartwell, where it meets Eyremount and Millstream in the British Properties.

This is considered an intermediate hike with some steep sections and rooty, rocky areas with possible tricky footing and creek crossings…( but only uphill halfway!)

Please wear appropriate footwear and bring your poles.

Meet your leaders at 9:15 with your passes, we’ll take a count before setting off at 9:30.

The hike will be approximately 2 hours

Meet at the top St. Mary’s this Friday…

This Friday we’ll be meeting at the top of St. Mary’s Road. We’ll then hike to the powerlines. From there, we’ll follow the St. Georges and Baden Powell trails.

To get there, go north on Lonsdale, then turn right on Braemar Road East. Turn left (north) at St. Georges until you make a right turn at Balmoral Rd. Balmoral continues on to become St. Mary’s, which you’ll follow to the top near Woodale. Should be plenty of on street parking…..and easier to find than it sounds!

This hike is intermediate to intermediate plus with substantial elevation gain. It’s straight uphill in somewhat rough terrain to the power lines and continues uphill once into the trails before levelling off.

Make sure that you’re wearing appropriate hiking footwear and bring your poles.

Please join us at 9:15 with your Flex pass, Trail Trekker punch pass, or Rec.Centre annual pass. We’ll take a head count, then hit the trail at 9:30.
See you Friday!

If the weather forecasters are right, there is some extreme weather coming our way. It may not be favourable for hiking in the mountains! For this reason we have decided to change the location of Friday’s hike.

We’ll now be meeting at Delbrook Rec. Centre and hiking the upper Mosquito Creek area.

As usual we’ll meet at 9:15 and be ready to hike at 9:30. This is an easy/moderate hike.

Please spread the word to any other Trekkers who may not subscribe to this blog.
See you Friday!

October 7th, Whyte Lake

This Friday Oct. 7th, we’ll be hiking to Whyte Lake from the trailhead on Westport Road. To get there, take exit 4 from highway 1 then turn left onto Westport Road. Go straight at the 4 way stop, then follow Westport Road under the highway until you come to a small gravel parking area on the right side.

The hike is considered intermediate with some steep sections. Proper footwear and poles are recommended.

Please be at the trailhead at 9:15 and we’ll hit the trail at 9:30, returning around 11:30.…see you then!
