Meet At Delbrook

This Friday February 28, we’ll be hiking the Mosquito Creek area trails.
Meet your leaders at the Delbrook Rec.Centre, outside the main entrance  at 9:15. We’ll be ready to hike at 9:30.

It’s an easy to moderate hike with some stairs. The hike should take about two hours, we’ll return to Delbrook around 11:30.

See you Friday!

Whyte Lake….and a few words from your leaders..

Friday Feb.21, we’ll be hiking to Whyte Lake from the trailhead on Westport Road.

To get to the trailhead, take exit 4 from highway 1 then turn left onto Westport Road. Go straight at the 4 way stop, then follow Westport Road under the highway until you come to a small gravel parking area on the right side (adjacent to the Hwy.1 eastbound lanes).

The hike is considered intermediate with some steep sections. Proper footwear and poles are recommended.
.
Please be at the trailhead at 9:15 and we’ll hit the trail at 9:30, returning around 11:30.…see you then!

Recently, Trekkers have been telling your leaders that we are setting the pace too fast, or that the “lead” leader is going too fast. We have discussed this and thought we would remind you that there is always a leader designated as a “sweep”. The sweep is there to ensure that everyone finds their way on the trail, as well as to accompany those who aren’t comfortable with a faster pace. We are in constant voice contact by radio and try to accommodate the various fitness levels and expectations of the group. We will always take short breaks to “Mind The Gap”.

Cleveland Dam

This Friday Feb.14 we’ll explore the trails in the Capilano Canyon and Hatchery area, starting from Cleveland Dam.
To get there, head north on Capilano Road and turn left into the parking lot, just before Capilano Road becomes Nancy Greene Way. We’ll meet by the washrooms.

This is an easy/moderate hike, however be prepared for some hills and stairs.

Please be at the meeting spot at Cleveland Dam by 9:15, we’ll count trekkers and passes then be ready to go at 9:30.

We should be finished our hike and back at the parking lot by 11:30.
See you Friday!

Meet At End Of The Line

This Friday Feb.7, we’ll be meeting at the End of the Line store at the corner of Lynn Valley and Dempsey Roads.

Our plan is to hike a route through Lynn Canyon Park, however some of the trails in the park have been closed recently due to construction and trail upgrades.
If the Lynn Canyon trails are still closed, we’ll explore some of the other options available to us from this meeting spot.

Be prepared for a moderate hike with some rooty sections and uphill portions, poles are always a good idea.
The hike should take about two hours, returning to the End Of The Line around 11:30….coffee?

There is plenty of parking available in Kilmer Park in the 1600 block of Dempsey Road.

Please meet your leaders at the End of the Line at 9:15 and be ready to hike at 9:30.
See you then!
